Solicitation release date October 10, 1997 Step 1 proposals due November 21, 1997 Step 2 proposals due January 30, 1998 The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announces the solicitation of proposals for participating in the Land Surface Hydrology Program of the Science Division, Office of Mission to Planet Earth (MTPE). The Science Division supports research and analysis that would promote and increase the use of remotely sensed information for detecting and evaluating environmental status and change at both regional and global scales. The goal of the hydrology program is to develop a predictive understanding of the role of water in land-atmosphere interactions, and to further the scientific basis of water resources management. This NASA Research Announcement (NRA) represents a first step toward annual issuance of hydrologic research opportunities by NASA with the intent to encourage broader participation. Four topics will be emphasized in this NRA: (1) flood hazards, (2) participation in field and numerical experiments related to land-atmosphere interactions, (3) snow hydrology, and (4) seasonal/interannual to decadal/century variability in terrestrial hydrologic systems.
