It is the intent of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Detroit, Michigan to negotiate a service contract with Varian for the Linear Accelerator & Simulator. The service contract is for the following equipment: Varian Clinac 2100 C/D Medical Linear Accelerator S/N 806, including the following options: Special Procedures, C/D, Dynamic Wedge, Lower Independent Jaw, Remote Diagnositics, Extended Travel Range Treatment Couch, Multileaf Collimation system with console workstation controller and shaper workstation. A Portal-Vision electronic portal imaging device with R-arem support device and a digital video camera/light box planar image input device. The service contract shall provide 24 hour 7 days a week service for the indicated equipment, including time, materials, software upgrades, and replacements. All work shall be performed by individuals with documented manufacturer's training for the indicated equipment. Proof of training must be documented and included in the bid package. Allparts used for the servicing the equipment will be approved by Varian Oncology Systems and suitable for use with this equipment. Because of the integrated assembly of the described equipment and the interrelated iperation of the component parts, equipment malfunctions may simultaneously involve serveral listed components therefore the service contract must be for comprehensive service for all items listed. The contract period will be for one year, commencing September 26, 1997 through September 25, 1998. See Numbered Notes: 22 & 23. (0260)
