553-45-97 DUE 092597 POC Barbara A. Lupo, 313-576-3737 E-MAIL:
LUPO,B@FORUM.VA.GOV., LUPO,B@FORUM.VA.GOV.. It is the intent of the
Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Detroit, Michigan to
negotiate a service contract with Siemens Medical for Cath Lab
Equipment. Due to the critical nature and sophistication of this
equipment, coupled with the high patient volume, it is imperative that
the vendor have immediate access to all parts for maintenance and
repair of the chest units, especially access to tubes and the
electonics necessary for complete integration with the VA computer
radiography system. The manufacturer has made custom parts for the VA's
computed radiopraphy system, and images from this system cannot be
processed in any other fachion. As the manufacturer has not released
most parts (including tubes and proprietary circuit boards) for these
units into general commerce due to the many difficulties encountered,
maintenance and repair of this equipment by the original equipment
vendor is believed to be necessary. The service contract shall provide
24 hour/7days a week service, including time,materials, software
upgrades, and replacement parts. All work will be performed by
individuals with documented manufacturer's training for the indicated
equipment. Proof of training must be documented and included in the bid
package. The contract period will be for one year, commencing September
26, 1997 through September 25, 1998. See Numbered Notes: 22 & 23.
