(FAA) is seeking to add a one-bedroom to each of the seven houses the
FAA has in the Grand Canyon Area. The contractor will be responsible
for designing the additions, securing local building permits and
constructing the additions. Each addition is typically to be
approximately 15 X 15 feet and is to be constructed in accordance with
local building codes. Construction is to be conventional concrete
foundation with wood stud (R-19) wall construction. Finishes are to be
typical for a residential house. The FAA will be conducting a
MANDATORY job walk on Friday, September 19, 1997. Interested
contractors shall meet FAA Rep's at the Tusayan Ranger Station @ 10:00
a.m., Telephone # (520) 638-2443. DIRECTIONS TO THE TUSAYAN RANGER
STATION: Take Highway 180 North to Route 64. Turn right and watch for
large TUSAYAN RANGER STATION SIGN about 20 to 25 miles from Hwy 180
(See Map-Tusayan Ruins and Museum located nearby). Once the job walk is
completed, the contractors will be requested to submit technical
proposals to: Ms. Alice C. Clark, C.O., Federal Aviation

telephone number. TECHNICAL/COST PROPOSALS ARE DUE IN TO OUR OFFICE NO
LATER THAN 9/25/97. Because funding is limited, the FAA will request
pricing based on a per house basis. If funding is insufficient to
complete construction on all seven homes, the FAA will award the
contract based on completing as many additions possible with the funds
available. Interested contractors will be evaluated and qualified
based on the following factors listed in descending order of
importance: (1) Business/Technical Capability, (2) Past Performance,
and (3) Financial Capability. This notice BELOW isfor informational
purposes for Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business
Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small
and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), has programs to assist
minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to
acquire short-term working capital and bonding assistance for
transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible
prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program
enables firms to apply for bid, payment, and performance bonds up to
1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on
the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are also available
under the DOT Short Term Lending Programs (STLP), at prime interest
rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximun line of
