synopsis/solicitation is reopened. New closing date is 24 September
1997. Additional information is provided on (1) each, Medical Waste
Auotclave. This system will come with (1) each Steam Generator, (1)
each Ejector Vacuum, and (1) each Water Treatment System, (2) each 3/4
CY Carts, (1) each Deodorant System Package, (1) each Spare Parts
Package, (1) each Cold Weather Package, Freight and Handling to
Catania,Italy, and Start-up and Inservice Training, which includes
onsite operator training, and training for Naval Hospital's Technicians
at the contractor's facility on preventive maintenance. The Navy will
be responsible for all travel,living expenses for these technicians.
Additional specifications are this system must utilize 220 volt 50
hertz single phase power for the control unit, and 380 volt 50 hertz
triple phase power for steam generator. Naval Hospital can handle any
amperage requirements of the autoclave system in-house. Building water
pressure is set to 4 bar/60 psi. Drainage is capable of handling 8
gallons per minute. Minimum Chamber size of 24" wide x 24" high x 36"
deep and be constructed of ASME code 316L stainless steel. The door
must be constructed of the same material, hinged on the left, and have
some sort of locking mechanism once system is in operation. Door may
be manually or power operated. The system must have removable panels on
all sides to enable access to operating components without moving the
system. The system must have a railed cart system within the chamber to
allow removal of the waste after processing without having to actually
handle it. The system must be freestanding, though it will be secured
to the floor with 3/8" concrete bolts. The system must be capable for
generating its own steam by stated power requirements. The system must
have an ejector vacuum to handle the amount of waste that is processed
at one time. If steam generator requires hot water, hot water heater
must be provided, if system requires deionized water, or some other
water requirement, a water treatment system capable for providing the
quality of water required for the system must be included. Water
Treatment System may be freestanding, not part of steam generator. The
System must include chemicals required for operation, anticipated
duration of the chemicals, and cost of replacement chemicals. The unit
must be designed to hold temperature of 280 degrees f at 28 PSI for 30
minutes.and have automatic drying cycle of 30 minutes. The entire
control of the cycle from start to finish should be fully automatic.
The control unit must be able to operate with specified power and
should be a control microprocessor. Cycle Recording Systems are
acceptable. The steam must go to a self contained condensation tank,
which then exits the system via building drainage. The system should
contain some type of deodorant package if condensation or sterilization
odors are a problem. Rolling disposal carriage is required. Responsible
