The Project Manager, Aircrew Integrated Systems (PM ACIS) is seeking
information regarding industry, government laboratory and academia
research both foreign and domestic, on technologies applicable to
improving military aircrew mission performance and survivability
(including ground related activities): comfort and endurance; aircraft
and aircrew-station interface; and flight safety. The U.S. Army's
present program, AIR WARRIOR, seeks to eliminate incompatibilities,
reduce bulk and weight, and simplify current equipment. The AIR WARRIOR
program plans to develop a modular system design that will be
tailorable for missions while minimizing weight and bulk. The AIR
WARRIOR team is seeking innovative solutions to address requirement
areas outlined below. Commercial solutions are highly desired.
Technical solutions already in production of prototype stages are also
highly desired. AIR WARRIOR has five major FOCUS AREAS with examples
of specific needs under each area. Theyare: (A) Modular Integrated
Helmet Display Systems: Helmet Design and Display (B) Electronics:
Communications, Position Location, Electronic Data Management, Wireless
Intercom, Wireless LANS, Combat Identification, Flat Panel Display,
Global Positioning System, Infrared Sensor, Personal Digital Assistant,
Miniature Portable Computers, Miniature Microphone, Survival
Communications, Power Management Techniques, Portable Power Supplies,
Battery Technologies, PCMCIA Radio Technology, Personal HF/UHF/VHF
Antenna, Inductive Data Communications, Speech Recognition and
Digitization (C) Physiological Issues: Heat Stress Control, Cold Stress
Control, Liquid Body Waste management, Liquid Intake, Oxygen
Intake/Altitude Protection (D) Personal Protection/Survival: Crash
Survivability, Heat/Flame Protection, Nuclear/Biological/Chemical (NBC)
Protection, NBC Detection, Anti-Exposure, Floatation, Rafting, Survival
Items and Survival Item Stowage/Carriers, Restraint & Extraction
Harnesses, Emergency Underwater Breathing,Ballistic Protection,
Personal Lethal Defense (E) Interfaces and Compatibility with aircraft
platforms: Compatibility with Platform Restraint System and Reach
Envelope, Single Point Connection to Platforms, Hands-free Breakaway
Connection for Emergency Express. Companies responding to this request
should provide detailed information to Rosie M. Bell at the address
listed above. Samples and 3D models are also encouraged and desired.
