THAILAND: TIS 528-2540 (1997) STANDARD FOR HOT-ROLLED CARBON STEEL COIL, STRIP, PLATE AND SHEET OF COMMERCIAL AND DRAWING QUALITIES The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. Description of content: The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) has proposed to revise TIS 528-2527 (1984) and to enforce as a mandatory standard. The standard classifies hot-rolled carbon steel coil, strip, plate and sheet into four grades based on its application as HR 1 for commercial quality, HR 2 for drawing quality, HR 3 for deep drawing quality and HR 4 for extra deep drawing quality. Specifies mass, dimensions and tolerances on thickness, width and length, permissible variations and out-of-squareness, flatness, chemical composition, appearance (e.g. smooth surface, freedom from lamination), tensile strength and elongation and bending. Includes marking, labelling, sampling criteria for conformity and testing. 7. Objective and rationale: Consumer protection. 8. Relevant documents: 1.
