THAILAND: TIS 685-2540 (1997) STANDARD FOR TOYS: PART 1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS; PART 2 PACKAGES AND LABELLING; PART 3 METHODS OF TEST AND ANALYSIS The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.97.427. 1. Member to Agreement notifying: THAILAND. If applicable, name of local government involved (Articles 3.2 and 7.2). 2. Agency responsible: Thai Industrial Standards Institute. Agency or authority designated to handle comments regarding the notification can be indicated if different from above. 3. Notified under Article 2.9.2. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where applicable): Toys. 5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the notified document: TIS 685-2540 (1997) Standard for Toys: Part 1 General Requirements; Part 2 Packages and Labelling; Part 3 Methods of Test and Analysis. 6. Description of content: The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) has proposed to revise TIS 685-2530 (1987) Standard for toys: Part 1-3 to be in line with the relevant ISO and EN standards, and to enforce as a mandatory standard. The principal changes are the following: Part 1 -- Clarification on products not included within the scope of this standard; general and specific requirements have been revised or added to be in accordance with the ISO and EN standards such as: ~~tension test for seams in stuffed toys, small and unremovable play components of toys; shape and size of squeeze, teethers and teething toys intended for children less than three years of age; flammability; maximum acceptable element migration from toy materials to be in accordance with ISO 8124 Part 3; safety requirements, such as kinetic energy for projectiles, bows and arrows. Part 2 -- requirements for warning labelling have been revised and added to be in accordance with EN 71 Part 1. Part 3 -- methods of test have been revised to be in accordance with the EN 71 Part 1 and ISO ~~8124 Part 3.~ ~ 7. Objective and rationale: Consumer protection. 8. Relevant documents: 1.
