Freeman,CESAW-EP-EE (910-251-4741) -- POC FOR CD-ROM INFORMATION; Hilda Ayers/Contract Specialist Work consists of heavy bridge and highway construction involving approximately 5,100 linear feet (LF) of permanent and temporary 2 lane highway and 3,976 LF of 2 lane high level fixed span bridge over very swampy terrain in Hyde County, North Carolina. The bridge has six 40 to 42-foot prestressed concrete girder approach spans, thirty five (35) 82-foot prestress concrete girder approach spans, and a 240', 380' and 240' three span continuous steel main span 65' above the AIWW. Highway construction includes excavation and embankment construction, foundation stabilization, paving, guardrail and landscaping. Bridge work includes approximately 41,600 LF of prestressed concrete foundation piles, 9,000 cubic yards of reinforced concrete, 620 tons of structural steel girders, and 12,500 LF of prestressed concrete girders. All work must be completed no later than one thousand ninety five (1,095) calendar days after Contractor receipt of NOTICE TO PROCEED. Estimated cost range of the project is $10,000,000 -- $25,000,000. Advertising date is scheduled for 15 October 1997 with bid opening on or about 18 November 1997. AVAILABILITY: The solicitation for this project will be issued on CD-ROM ONLY. The CD-ROM will be available at no charge and should not be returned. The CD-ROM contains a simple windows viewing application and two commercial software applications. All applications contained on the CD-ROM can be run from the CD-ROM. No installation is required. The recommended minimum hardware requirements are (1) 486/66 personal computer; (2) 8 or 16 MB RAM; (3) CD-ROM drive; (4) Windows driven printer. The recommended minimum software requirements is Microsoft Windows 3.1, Windows 95, or Windows NT. NOTE: Although this CD-ROM is intended to be used with Microsoft Windows, files associated with this solicitation are in .PDF and .CAL raster format. Commercial software applications are available for viewing .PDF and .CAL raster on MacIntosh and Unix operating systems. The commercial software applications for MacIntosh and Unix are not included on this CD-ROM. Plans & specifications will not be provided in a printed paper format; however, the Government reserves the right to revert to paper medium when it is determined to be in the Government's best interest. All bid forms, bid bonds, and other normal documents required for bid submittal shall be in paper medium. Electronic medium for bid submittal documents will NOT be allowed.
