Steve Minnich, Contracting Officer, (850) 882-3959, ext. 613 The U.S. Government intends to award a sole source contract modification to Hughes Missile Systems Company to perform follow-on efforts to the most recent design efforts performed to enhance the producability and maintainability of the Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM). The effort consists of incorporating a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) processor or processors into the AMRAAM missile and the software and hardware modifications required to ensure system performance is maintained. The effort includes qualification of both the hardware and software design. In addition, all affected test equipment will be modified to allow testing of the newly configured missile. Specific and detailed knowledge and experience is required with AMRAAM tactical software; missile hardware; design changes including the Filter Processor, I/O, and AMRAAM Data Processor (FIA). The project is anticipated to begin in November 1997 and will continue for a period commensurate with program complexity. An engineering data package is not available for this acquisition.
