E-MAIL: M. Goulart, Contracting Officer,
goulart@code59.npt.nuwc.navy.mil. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center
(NUWC) Division, Newport has a requirement to establish a contractor
managed Cite Conservation Program to obtain safety glasses for NUWC
employees. Our initiative is to establish a program that is responsive
to Safety and Health issues as well as customer needs. The system must
be cost effective, efficient and responsive to customer needs. The
Standard which safety eyewear must meet is the American National
Standards Institue (ANSI) Z87.2, this includes frames and lenses. This
program will provide all authorized NUWC employees direct ordering of
safety glasses, fitting and repair of eyeglass frames and permanently
affixed side shields. The eye exam required includes error of
refraction and glaucoma screening. NUWC employees shall also be
authorized to purchase bifocals and trifocals. The government will not
authorize the purchase of tinted, photogrey or progressive lenses.
Appointments will be made by telephone, fax or electronic means. In
addition, the selected vendorwill be required to record and maintain a
system that tracks the quantity of glasses ordered by type and end
user, prepare ordering documents, invoices, and deliver periodic
management reports summarinzing the above. NUWC plans on awarding a
contract to those companies that best meet our needs. The selected
vendor(s) will be chosen based on how well they demonstrate their
capabilities, experience, and success running similar types of
programs, and how well their proposed system meets our goals. It is
anticipated that this requirement will be for a period of three years.
This requirement is set-aside for small business. Specific information
for this requirement will be provided in a Request for Quote (RFQ).
Requests for the RFQ must be submitted in writing, specifying the RFQ
number. Telephone requests will not be honored. (0266) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0175 19970925\38-0001.SOL)
