SEATS, MARITIME The Special Operations Acquisition Center is seeking
sources to provide low cost combination seat-bolsters (henceforth
"seats") for the crew and passengers in a high performance combatant
craft. There is a potential requirement for 420 seats. The seats are
used on a craft that is 82 feet long, 18 feet wide, routinely operates
at both 35 knots in 3-5 foot seas and at 45 knots in 2-3 foot seas.
The craft occasionally operates in seas up to 10 feet. Typical mission
length is 12 hours. Each craft has 20 seats for crew and passengers
who range from 5'3" and 6'6" in height, weighing a maximum of 270 lbs,
including personal effects. Capability for standing shall be provided
for rough water operations while the bolsters shall be convertible to
seating for calm water operations and loitering. Seats shall be fitted
with side pads, back rests, and grab rails and/or padded arm rests to
provide longitudinal and transverse support to onboard personnel and
shall be adjustable in height. Theseats, frames, side pads, grab rails,
four-point safety restraints and/or padded arm rests shall be strong
enough to restrain personnel under all operating conditions. Arm rests
on ganged seats may be common. Foot rests shall be easily moved to a
stowed and out-of-the-way position. Seats must be easily removable,
foldable or lowerable to support air transport of the craft inside a
C-5 aircraft. This information is requested solely for purposes of
determining the availability of bolster/seat in the commercial market.
