M. McAllister (301) 619-7360 (Site Code DAMD17) The U.S. Army Medical
Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) has as one of its
responsibilities the development of new drugs to protect or treat
soldiers confronted with threats on the modern battlefield or exposed
to endemic diseases during deployment. Preclinical pharmacodynamics and
pharmacokinetics studies of investigational new drugs are needed in the
early stage of drug development. The contract includes writing study
protocols and conducting pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics studies
of test articles. Protocols, studies, and reports shall be in
compliance with the Food and Drug Administration guidelines and
regulations and other applicable U.S. Government regulations. The
contractor should be sufficiently flexible to study one candidate drug
in two animal species simultaneously. The contractor must be able to
respond rapidly to changing priorities. The Army expects to award a
five year contract with work assigned through individual task orders.
