COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 26,1997 PSA#1939Contract Management Section, National Institute of Dental Research,
NIH, Natcher Building, Room 4AN-44D, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-6402 A -- IMMUNOLOGIC FACTORS IN SALIVA AND BLOOD AS DETERMINANTS OF
HIV-RELATED DISEASES SOL NIH-NIDR-4-97-9R DUE 111097 POC Marion
Blevins, (301) 594-0652. The National Institute of Dental Research has
a requirement of the development of methods and assays for selected
immunological and viral characteristics in the saliva and serum of a
cohort of HIV-positive persons. Approximately 2000 serum and 2000
saliva samples (to be furnished by the Government) will be tested for
total IgG, IgM, and IgA; HIV-specific IgG, IgM, and IgA; nonspecific
immune factors (lactoferrin, lysozyme and lactoperoxidase); levels of
secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor; quantitative HIV virions; and
infectivity of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC). Special
features of this project are the large number of samples and the need
to develop procedures to apply to saliva as the matrix and conserve
volume of specimen as much as possible. This is an announcement for an
anticipated Request for Proposal (RFP). RFP No. NIH-NIDR-4-97-9R will
be available approximately October 8, 1997, with a closing date
tentatively set for November 10, 1997. Requests must be submitted in
writing. Telephone and fax requests will not be accepted. All
responsible sources my submit a proposal which will be considered by
the NIDR. See Note 1. (0267) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0002 19970926\A-0002.SOL)
