Y -- QUARTZ CREEK CAMPGROUND RECONSTRUCTION AND EXPANSION SOL IFB R10-98-01 DUE 111497 POC Lisa Peterson or Eric Meyer, (907) 586-8880 This is a re-advertisement of a project that was solicited in RFP R10-97-02. The project has been modified, and is now being advertised as an invitation for bids. The solicitation is to cover all construction activities for reconstruction and expansion of the Quartz Creek Campground on the Seward Ranger District of the Chugach National Forest. The project is located at approximately Mile 0.4 Quartz Creek Road, at approximately mile 44.9 of the Sterling Highway, approximately 95 miles from Anchorage, Alaska, and approximately 50 miles from Soldotna, Alaska. The major components of the base construction item include 1600 feet of new 12-foot wide paved road; reconstruction of 550 feet of existing 20-foot wide exit or entrance roads; paved parking areas and pull-off areas; reconstruction of approx. 0.9 miles of existing single lane road, parking areas, and camping spurs; construction of 26 new paved camping spurs with use areas; realignment, reconstruction and construction of camping spurs and use areas toapprox. 20 existing camping spurs; obliteration of approx. 18 existing camping spurs; pulverizing of approx. 7,500 sq. yds. of existing asphalt for reuse as an aggregate base course material for pavement; the obliteration of approx. 1000 feet of existing paved road and other areas; furnishing and placing a tack coat on reground asphalt, and a seal coat on approx. 0.9 miles of existing paved roads, parking areas, camping spurs and other paved surfaces that are not reground; furnishing, spreading and compacting a 1-1/2-inch and a 3-inch lift of hot bituminous pavement; furnishing, spreading and compacting of 3/4-inch & 3/8-inch crushed aggregate material; furnishing and painting of lane and parking stripes & symbols; furnishing and placing of 6 by 6 timbers, culverts, wheel stops, bollards, geotextile material, signs, and gates; removal of the existing signs, fee stations, wood barriers, dumpster screens, and flush and vault toilets; furnishing and construction of a bulletin board with fee stand, new flush and vault toilets; removal, cleaning, modification and reinstallation of fire grates; furnishing and installing water lines; electrical lines, meter base and breaker panels. The solicitation includes three additive items: construction of a 30' X 30' pavilion shelter; furnishing and installing electricity to the pavilion; and construction of a 3-foot diameter fire pit ring. The estimated price range for this project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. A pre-bid site visit is tentatively planned for October 23, 1997, at 10:00 a.m. at the Quartz Creek Campground. The contract performance period will be from approximately early to mid-December 1997 to May 28, 1999.
