work: The project consists of the construction of an aircraft parking
apron. the new apron abuts Taxiway Alpha and is a southwest extension
of the existing apron where the USAF aircraft are currently parked. The
new apron is to be constructed of rigid pavement. New flexible pavement
is located directly southeast of the new apron, extending from the
existing rigid pavement located west of Building 500, to the northeast
end of the new apron. This pavement functions as the new tow road and
provides vehicular access to the buildings in the area. New flexible
pavement is required at the NW end of W. Eighth Street to accommodate
new grading in the area. Also included in the project is the electrical
system for and the lighting of the aircraft parking apron. Included
will be underground electrical ducts/cabling ranging from 13.2 kV
distribution feeder, telephone/communications cabling, radar support
fiber optic cables and lighting cables for the taxiway and apron
lighting system. there will be some demolition of existing asphalt,
concrete and electrical systems. Plans will be issued on or about 29
September 1997 with bid opening on or about 29 October 1997. A ninety
(90) day bid acceptance period will apply to this solicitation. The
construction period is 300 days. The cost of plans and specifications
is $60.00 per set. This charge is non-refundable. Checks should be made

Corps of Engineers, Contracting Division, 4101 Jefferson Plaza NE,

construction is between $10 and $25 million. Bonding will be required

advertising, open to both large and small business concerns. Bidders
are advised that this requirement may be delayed, cancelled or revised
at any time during the solicitation, evaluation, negotiation and/or
final award process based on decisions related to DOD/GAF changes in
force structure, disposition of the Armed Forces, and favorable
completion of the environmental impact statement (EIS) for the beddown
of 30 additional Tornado Aircraft. In addition, award of this project
