54 -- PORTABLE RADAR COLLIMATION TOWERS SOL N63394-97-R-2112 DUE 111197 POC Contract Specialist, CURTIS FOUST, Phone (805) 982-8985, FAX (805) 982-5443 The Port Hueneme Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center has a requirement for Portable Radar Collimation Towers mounted on a dual axle trailers. This will be a 5 Year contract (Base Year, plus 4 Option Years). Each year is for one unit with option for three additional units. The towers will be telescoping tubular metal towers (corrosion resistant). Height: (Fully extended) minimum of 95 feet (100 feet is desirable). Height: No greater than 9 feet (towing position). Width: No greater than 8 feet (towing position). Length: No greater than 28 feet (towing position). Weight: No greater than 5,500 pounds. The trailer must have a minimum of 36 square feet of flat surface area for the mounting of additional storage boxes. The trailer must accommodate towing by either a pick-up truck or by a box van. The trailer must be capable of accepting a standard two inch ball type hitch. The collapsed tower in the horizontal (stowed position) cannot extend past the front of the tongue. The top of the tower must have a triangular or square flat metal surface capable of supporting a load of at least 200 pounds. The top of the tower has a movable array drive system on which test antennas and associated optical targets are mounted. The array drive system, antennas and optical targets are not part of this contract. The triangular or square metal surface must be at least 11 inches on each side. The tower has to be a free standing unit capable of supporting three square feet (sail area) and three cables (1.5 inch diameter bundle) with a maximum combined weight of 200 hundred pounds at wind speeds up to 20 MPH when fully extended. At this wind speed, the tower should maintain a safety factor of 1.5 against overturning. Stabilizing outriggers attached to the trailer, hinged at the top of the trailer frame and connected to the bottom by chains or cables and tensioners are to be provided. The Trailer must be equipped with a Hydraulic Surge Brake System on one axle. When the tower is extended (vertical position), the trailer will serve as the base for the tower. Leveling Jacks: Four each, one mounted on each of the four corners, plus the tongue mounted wheel jack. Clearance and running lights must be installed as defined in the California Department of Motor Vehicles specifications.
