Coast Guard Maintenance & Logistics Command Pacific is requesting technical information on commercially available Marine Band VHF-FM Direction Finding (DF) Systems. Information being sought applies to a system capable of obtaining DF information from existing remote Alaska mountain top communication sites, and displaying both Line Of Position (LOP) and latitude and longitude of the received signal(s) at a command center. Items of importance include antenna survivability under extreme wind, snow, and ice conditions, low power consumption using DC power, and ability to link information to the command center by low speed RS-232 communications through existing microwave and telephone circuits. High system reliability is necessary as access to the remote sites is by helicopter, weather permitting.
