COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 1,1997 PSA#1942"POWDER METALLURGY (P/M) SIMULATION AND DEVELOPMENT" END-OF-PROJECT
DEMONSTRATION Contact, Ms. Kathryn Carr, (814) 269-6406 or Ms. Kate
Buynack, (814) 269-2566. Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) will
host an end-of-project demonstration of Powder Metallurgy (P/M)
Simulation and Development on Wednesday, Nov. 5, and Thursday, Nov. 6,
1997, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The demonstration is sponsored by
the National Center for Excellence in Metalworking Technology (NCEMT),
which is operated by CTC for the U.S. Navy Manufacturing Technology
(MANTECH) Program. The demonstration will be held at CTC's
Manufacturing Technology Facility in Johnstown, PA. To meet the need
for an integrated concurrent engineering methodology for the design and
manufacture of P/M components, the NCEMT has developed a computer-based
process simulation model for die compaction. This model provides a
critical tool for resolving design and manufacturing problems in a
cost-effective manner and has already been beta tested by the
commercial sector. The end-of-project demonstration will provide
information on: Project background, history, and objectives; Material
model development; Software features and capabilities; Experimental
verification of material models; Hands-on software training. The event
will be held in conjunction with the release of and training on the
PCS EliteTM powder compaction simulation software. The registration fee
of $45.00 includes continental breakfasts, breaks, and session
materials on both days, and luncheon on Nov. 5. Registration is open to
citizens and permanent residents of the U.S. and Canada only. To
receive further information on the end-of-project demonstration or to
register, contact Gina Hudak at Concurrent Technologies Corporation,
1450 Scalp Avenue, Johnstown, PA. 15904, or by phone at (814) 269-2870
