The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) intends to solicit basic research proposals for experimental and theoretical investigations in support of its Global Tropospheric Experiment's Pacific Exploratory Mission B in the Tropics (PEM-Tropics-B) directed toward providing and conducting experiments aboard the NASA DC-8 or P3-B aircraft and/or theoretical studies with the data to be obtained from the airborne and supporting ground based experiments. This solicitation is open to all categories of organizations, foreign and domestic. A copy of this solicitation is available from the contact point (reference the solicitation number). This announcement will be open for the period from October 21, 1997 through January 9, 1998 and proposals may be submitted at any time throughout that period. A Letter of Intent to propose may be submitted by December 2, 1997. The NRA will be available electronically on the release date, via the Internet at at ''http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/mtpe/'', the Mission to Planet Earth ''Home Page'' under ''MTPE Research Announcements'' or via anonymous ftp at ftp.hq.nasa.gov/pub/mtpe. A paper copy will be available to those who do not have access to Internet by calling (202) 554-2775 and leaving a voice mail message. Electronic submission of proposals is encouraged as part of a pilot project for such submissions that NASA is conducting.
