Bureau of Prisons intends to make a award for Non-Personal Services as
a Pharmacy Technician. Duties to be performed at the Federal
Correctional Institution, Rt 8, Fox Hollow Road, Manchester, KY 40962.
Services include, but are not limited to providing the necessary
specially skill, educational background, and professional expertise in
the field of Pharmacy Technician. Performing assessments, to include,
reading prescriptions written by medical staff, determination of
medications prescribed, transcribing prescription data labels using
typewriter machines or via computer system, preparing prescriptions to
be reviewed by the Chief Pharmacist or COTR prior to dispensing, and
giving pertinent patient instructions when appropriate. In addition,
contractor should be proficient in maintaining sufficient inventories
of all medications other pertinent medical supplies and preparing the
proper paperwork to order such items. Documentation of expiration dates
for proper tracking of medications. Assurethat treatment rendered and
any and all patient contacts are documented in the medical records,
including appropriate signatures and authentication, according to
Bureau of Prison's policy. At a minimum, individual must have a
medical/technical background obtained through education or on the job
taining working in the pharmaceutical or medical field. At a minimum,
individual must have one year of experience working in the
Pharmaceutical field. This contract will include a base year not to
exceed twelve (12) months from date of award with four (4), one (1)
year option periods for renewal. Estimated number of sessions for the
base year is 780 sessions, consisting of three (3) two (2) hour long
sessions per day, five (5) days a week for fifty-two (52) weeks. Option
year #1 estimated sessions is 780 sessions. Option year #2 estimated
sessions is 780. Option year #3 estimated sessions is 780. Option year
#4 estimated sessions is 780. The anticipated issue date of the
Request for Quotation is October 15, 1997, withan anticipated receipt
of offer due by November 3, 1997. All responsible sources may submit a
bid, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by the agency.
