49 -- WILDLAND FIRE HAND TOOL SHARPENER POC RuthAnn Smith, Contracting Officer, 208-387-5546 or fax 208-387-5574 This is a request for information on available commercial tool sharpeners. Regional wildland fire caches have recurring requirements for a portable tool sharpening unit powered by a 1/3 to 1/2 HP electric motor. Unit is needed to sharpen fire tools, including fire shovels and pulaskis, in the field (fire camps). Portable unit needed that can be used on whatever level surface is available, which may include picnic tables, tree stumps, and pickup tailgates. Unit shall be subjected to heavy use under harsh field conditions. Unit shall be easily maintained at work site. Overall weight of sharpener shall not exceed 55 pounds. Unit shall be packed in sturdy container for repeated shipments.
