The U.S. Department of Labor/Employment and Training Administration is soliciting bids for the rehabilitation of specific areas of the former Metropolitan Hospital to create vocational, educational, administrative, medical/dental, food service, and dormitory spaces for the Job Corps program. The approximate space involved for the building is 82,000 gsf. Also, the work includes the construction of a new Physical Fitness Center at appropriately 16,500 gsf; and the Building and Apartment Maintenance (BAM) at approximately 5,000 gsf. The construction completion date of the project is estimated to be 395 calendar days from Notice to Proceed. The estimated cost range for construction is $5 Million to $10 Million. Plans and specifications will be available on or about October 30, 1997, only from the Architect/Engineering firm of Doshi and Associates, Inc., 1607 Big Beaver Road, Troy, Michigan 48083. It is emphasized that requests for plans and specifications should be addressed to the A/E firm listed above to ensure proper handling of requests. Requests must be in writing, and a $300 refundable bid-deposit is required. The bid-deposit must be in the form of a certified check, cashier's check, or money-order, made payable to the U.S. Department of Labor, and submitted to the A/E firm at the time of the request. Plans and Specifications will be made available for pick-up at the A/E's office, or may be arranged for delivery at an additional charge. Any additional shipping and/or handling charges must be pre-paid and COD requests will not be accepted. Requests will be answered on a first-come, first-serve basis until the initial supply is exhausted. For requests made after the supplies are exhausted, the Contracting Officer may determine whether or not payment of a fee is warranted. This non-refundable fee shall not exceed the actual cost of duplication of the IFB documents, plus COD charges.
