CORRECTIONAL/DETENTION SERVICES, UPDATE UPDATE, The Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) will be soliciting offers for a contractor-owned/contractor-operated detention facility for an estimated 1,250 adult male offenders (500 BOP inmates and 750 Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) criminal alien detainees). The facility is to be within a 25 mile radius of Interstate Highway I-10 between the eastern border of California and Tucson, Arizona with geographical location focus on proximity and accessibility to emergency services (medical, fire protection, law enforcement, etc.) and a Federal Aviation Administration approved airport capable of accommodating Boeing 727 or similar jet aircraft. The FBOP intends on awarding a fixed-price with award-fee contract type for a potential term 10 years which will consist of a three-year base and seven one-year options. The contractor shall provide the facility, all necessary equipment and supplies needed for contract performance. All services shall be in accordance with the FBOP's Statement of Work. Interested parties are advised the FBOP has established a definitive responsibility criterion requiring all offerors to have verifiable experience operating a secure corrections/detention facility in the United States continuously during the last three years. Interested parties are further advised that past performance and experience will be significant factors in the evaluation of offers and that award selection shall be made on a best value basis.
