course meets the needs of defense industry acquisition managers in
today's dynamic environment, providing the latest information related
to: *Defense acquisition policy; *Defense acquisition reform
initiatives; *Defense acquisition procedures and processes; *The
Planning, Programming and Budgeting System, and the congressional
budget process; and *The relationship between requirements generation,
resource allocation, science and technology activities and acquisition
programs. Taught by the Defense Systems Management College (DSMC), the
course uses the same acquisition policy information provided to DoD
students who attend DSMC courses for formal acquisition certification.
There are fours areas of course instruction: The first, Management in
the Acquisition Environment, will identify the major participants in
the DOD acquisition process and their roles. The second, Acquisition
Life Cycle Process, will focus on the objectives, responsibilities,
activities, and concerns of each phase of the weapons systems
acquisition life cycle. The third, Challenges to Program Management,
covers several diverse subjects which are critical to the success of
the DoD program manager. Finally, Application of Acquisition
Procedures, covers the specific application of the acquisition
procedures by the military services and management issues currently
facing the DoD program manager. This is the last chance to take
