Areas to be painted include: 4 sector gates, 2 vertical lift gates, 2 taintor gates, steel sheet pile lock chamber walls, gate machinery, fishing pier, manatee protection screens. Other repair work includes: replacement of handrails and walkway decking, replacement of all machinery pit covers, replacement of all clamping bars and sealing angles, replacement of timber seals on taintor gates, replacement of gaskets and stainless steel bolts on spillway gate halves, seal space between the channels which make up the taintor gate arms, replacement of disk-type brakes on sector gates (Asbestos is present), replacement of fire pump and install new platform, replacement of emergency generator, replacement of three security light poles and lights, repair eroded areas of concrete monoliths, repair the upstream and downstream 5 foot sections of nose beam that are corroding, strengthen lock chamber wall by adding structuralsteel and adding concrete infill, install permanent dewatering system behind lock chamber wall, upgrade electrical service from lock to spillway. Selection will be based on price and other factors. Invitation DACW17-98-R-0001 will be issued on or about 22 Oct 97 and opened on or about 09 Dec 97. Cost of Plans and Specifications is $40.00.
