intends to negotiate a sole source requirement with Public Health
Institute, 2001 Addison Street, 2nd Floor, Berkeley, CA 94704-1103, for
the analysis of trihalomethane in drinking water and spontaneous
abortions. The Foundation has data on a 5,000 cohort of pregnant women.
This cohort is unique in the high quality of data, the wide range of
disinfection by-product exposure and large geographic area. Public
Health Institute previously completed a study on this same subject
area. The objective of this project is to reanalyze the exposure to
disinfection by-products in the prospective study on pregnancy
outcomes. Because this data is held solely by investigators with the
Public Health Institute, EPA believes Public Health Institute is the
only vendor capable of satisfying the requirements stated above. The
period of performance is expected to be from date of award through
September 15, 1998. No solicitation is available. All interested
parties must respond within 15 days of the date of this announcement.
Interested vendors shall (1) include information on the proposed
services which clearly supports the requirements outlined above and;
(2) provide pricing information that is sufficient to make a
determination that competition is feasible. Submit a response to the
