COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 14,1997 PSA#1950DISA-DITCO/DTS42, 2300 East Drive, Bldg 3600, Scott AFB, IL 62225-5406 70 -- ENTERPRISE STORAGE MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS POC Michael Link
618-256-9412 The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Western
Hemisphere (WESTHEM) is soliciting information on enterprise storage
management solutions that provide backup, archive, restore, and
hierarchical storage management capabilities for distributed computing
environments. The solution must support a wide range of platforms
running at fifteen (15) Defense Megacenters (DMCs) and numerous
customer locations. The storage management solution must interface with
software products in the DISA baseline inventory, which support the
following functional areas: security, performance monitoring, network
management, and problem reporting. The solution must support a
heterogeneous operating environment, which includes client/server
support for the following platforms: Digital Equipment Corporation
Hewlett Packard Honeywell MVS (Amdahl, Hitachi, IBM) NCR Pyramid Sun
Tandem Unisys Wang Submit first copy of literature to DISA/DITCO/DT45
(Michael Link), 2300 East Drive, Scott A.F.B., IL 6225-5406. A second
copy shall be submitted to DISA WESTHEM (Michelle Johnson), 8051 East
Maplewood Avenue, Orchard Place Seven, Englewood, CO 80111. The
literature provided should address software and hardware solutions,
licensing options, maintenance, training, documentation, implementation
support services, and associated costs on the Enterprise Storage
Management Solutions. Additionally, the literature should describe the
product's ability to support the following functional capabilities.
Functionality provides data protection, data retention, and
hierarchical storage management in a distributed client/server
environment. Product provides automatic data backup and recovery for
locally or remotely connected clients and file servers. Solution
supports multiple connectivity architectures including: Transmission
Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Enterprise Systems
Connection (ESCON), System Network Architecture (SNA), Small Computer
System Interface (SCSI) and Fiber Distributed Data Interchange (FDDI).
Solution must be scaleable and available on multi-vendor platforms
including personal computers, mid-range systems, and mainframes. The
solution must be capable of storing data on a variety of storage
devices including: Direct Access Storage Device (DASD), Digital Linear
Tape (DLT), and robotics tape libraries. The solution must support
multiple network architectures including local area networks,
metropolitan area networks, wide are networks, and asynchronous
transfer mode networks. (0282) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0265 19971014\70-0009.SOL)
