be approximately 28'-0" Length and 8'-0" Wide and will include 30
pull-out art racks 8'-0" Height x 8'-0" Depth @ 12" apart. System to
also include 600 "S" hooks (400 medium and 200 large). Painting Storage
Rack System must be a free standing unit independent of the ceiling.
System must not exceed the floor load of 125 lbs. per square foot, and
must not exceed the deflection of "L over 360." System Shall Include
The Following: Panels all aluminum with handles; Tracks structural
steel; Trolleys stainless steel with ball bearings; Both sides of each
panel must be able to be used to hang paintings; Panels must be able
to be fully extended for easy removal of artwork; "S" Hooks must be
able to support 125 pounds each and safely hanging various sizes of
artwork; Panels must be able to glide easily over existing floor tile.
Qualified American Indian vendors will be given priority consideration
in accordance witht the Buy Indian Act (25 U.S.C. 47 as implemented
by20 BIAM 2.1). The system offered by the vendor must conform exactly
to the technical specifications or vendor must satisfactorily
demonstrate how any substitution will meet or exceed the established
specifications. Vendor that is awarded the contract must make a
preliminary planning trip to Rapid City, South Dakota to survey the
space for potential problems and confirm measurements. After this
preliminary planning trip the vendor must provide detailed drawings to
be reviewed and approved by the Indian Arts and Crafts Board prior to
order placement. Bid must include costs for preliminary trip to Rapid
City, South Dakota, materials, freight to Rapid City, South Dakota,
installation and any travel costs associated with installation. Vendor
that is awarded the contract must send company experts to do the
installation of the system and may not use other third party laborers
or contractors. The painting storage rack system will be installed at
the following address: The Journey-Sioux Indian Museum, 222 New York
Street, Rapid City, SD 57701. Bids must be received by 12:00pm EST on
October 27, 1997 at the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Division of Contracts
and Grants Administration, 1849 C St, NW, Washington, DC 20240, in room
2620. The Bid Opening will be at 2:00pm EST on October 27, 1997 in room
2622. Bids must be mailed or hand delivered, no telefaxes or e-mails.
