AMC Contracting Flight intends to issue a purchase order on a sole source basis with WSI Corporation, 4 Federal Street, Billerica, MA 01821 for the purchase of monthly NOWrad Data Services, hardware/software maintenance and site licenses in support of the Automated Weather Distribution System (AWDS) as follows: 1) NOWrad Data Services. The Air Weather Service requires CONUS NEXRAD (Next Generation Radar)images to support the SAWDS (Satellite/NEXRAD data Ingest to the Automated Weather Distribution System) program. The radar images will be ingested into the SAWDS system at Offutt AFB Nebraska and further disseminated, via satellite, to remote sites in the US to assist weather forecasters in creating operational forecasts and briefings. The radar images must be in the WSI proprietary format to work with the SAWDS program. The requirement will include national radar mosaic products every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The availability of the data shall be at least 99 percent measured monthly. The resolution must be 2km or higher for national base reflectivity mosaic products. The radar images will have geographical maps and intensity scale legends that are separable from the reflectivity data. The radar images will be delivered to Air Force Global Weather Center (AFGWC), Offutt AFB, Omaha, NE via file transfer protocol (ftp) in WSI proprietary format; 2)Satellite Receiver Earthstation Hardware Maintenance and 3) WEATHERspectrum 7500M Software Maintenance at AFGWC. The vendor will maintain the equipment and software required for delivery of the data; and 4) Remote AWDS site data licenses. Licenses will be purchased to further disseminate and use the radar images at 122 remote sites. The proposed performance period is 26 Nov 97 through 30 Sep 98.
