VIRGINIA CONGRESSMEN OWEN PICKETT, NORMAN SISISKY, AND BOBBY SCOTT FEDERAL PROCUREMENT CONFERENCE VIRGINIA CONGRESSMEN OWEN PICKETT, NORMAN SISISKY, AND BOBBY SCOTT FEDERAL PROCUREMENT CONFERENCE On 27 October 1997, Congressman Owen Pickett, Norman Sisisky, and Bobby Scott in cooperation with the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Federal Procurement Conference in Virginia Beach, VA. Registration will begin at 7:30 am in the Holiday Inn-Executive Center at 5655 Greenwich Road in Virginia Beach. In addition to Congressmen Picket, Sisisky, and Scott, distinguished speakers include Rear Admiral Mike Sullivan, Principal Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Research, Development, and Acquisition), Mr. Bob McGhee, (Director Petersburg Procurement Assistance Center), Mr. Bill Holloran, (Executive Director Small Business Development Center of Hampton Roads), Mr. Biscuit Wev (Director of Outreach, Fairfax Electronic Commerce Resource Center), Captain Larry Vadala (Executive Director Procurement, Defense Supply Center Richmond), and Ms. Linda Owen (Deputy for Small Business, Fleet Industrial Supply Center). Emphasis will be on Electronic Commerce/Electronic Data Interchange (EC/EDI) and breaking into the Government market, specifically with the Department of Defense. Numerous prime contractors will also be in attendance. Other topics that will be discussed during this conference are: Special Procurement Issues (i.e SBA 8(a) Program, Certificate of Conformance, etc.); Commodities and Services Contracting; Construction Contracting; and Electronic Commerce/Electronic Data Interchange just to name a few. Information will be targeted toward small business. In addition to this extremely valuable information, the Fleet Industrial Supply Center, Norfolk anticipates issuing IMPAC card awards during the conference.
