The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention contemplates awarding a
Sole Source contract to the State of Alabama to provide a
comprehensive 24 hours a day health benefit program for participants,
widows and children of the Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the
Negro Male Study. The contractor will manage and coordinate all
required services for approximately 10 elderly patients, to include
health care, homemaker and personal care services directly related to
the patient's health needs, safety and well-being, including
round-the-clock home care, social work services and coordinating
transportation and accompanying patients to medical appointments. The
anticipated performance period is 12 months. Options may be exercised
for four additional years. It is believed that the State of Alabama
possesses the capability to coordinate and provide the various services
state-wide needed to care for the study participants and their
survivors. All responsible sources qualified to provide the foregoing
services on a state-wide basis may submit a response which will be
considered by the agency. See Note 22 (0283) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0038 19971015\Q-0002.SOL)
