Work: Prospective Contractors and Others Concerned The US Army
Community and Family Support Center (USACFSC) is seeking sources to
submit proposals and compete for the subject design/build project. This
is a Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) project paid for with soldiers'
dollars. No appropriated funds of the United States shall become due or
be paid the Contractor as a result of any contract resulting from this
solicitation. This will be a "Design/Build" project where the
successful Contractor will be responsible for completing the design and
constructing a complete and useable facility within the requirements of
the contract. The project includes all design and construction
necessary to provide a renovated ski and skeet lodge facility.
Geotechnical analysis, definitive floor plan functional and some
specific design requirements will be provided. Facility will be
designed primarily to meet commercial construction standards and local
building codes. The design/build firm will be required to use a
professional architect with experience in arctic engineering to oversee
the design. A Request for Proposal (RFP) is being prepared and is
scheduled for release in January/February 1998. The existing 4958 sf
Ski and Skeet Lodge is to be renovated so as to bring the facility into
compliance with handicapped accessibility and electrical standards and
to increase the size of the snack bar, kitchen, storage areas and
maintenance rooms and air-handling system. New lighting, carpeting,
ceilings and some furnishings are included. Three additions to the
existing building are to be constructed and equipped: 1) a 1420 sf
lobby to include an office, mechanical room and lockers; 2) a 752 sf
addition for skeet purposes to include an office, secure storage and
lounge; and 3) a 2482 sf wooden deck. The parking lot is to be expanded
by 62,000 sf, regraded, and a storm drainage ditch excavated. The
project will be located on Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Fort Wainwright is
a US Army Training Facility located in Fairbanks, Alaska. The amount
programmed for construction of this project, including design, is
approximately 1.5 million dollars. If you would like to be included in
