70 -- MODEM DUE 110597 POC Vicki Whiteman 703-784-5822x256 FAX 703-784-5826 The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is requesting information for the following ADPE equipment. NO SOLICITATION EXISTS AT THIS TIME. The U.S. Marine Corps is conducting market research to seek sources, contract vehicles, technical information, and approximate costing for Modems. Modems must be compatible with the Team Portable Communications Intelligence System (TPCS) and must perform, as a minimum, all functions currently required by the TPCS. Size, weight, cost, ruggedness, reliability, portability, operating temperature, availability for procurement, modifications required to be compatible with TPCS and lead times for said modifications are all major concerns. The modem must work with IEEE 802.3 Ethernet LAN, TSEC/KY-99A, AN/PRC-104, SINCGARS, and TSEC/KG-84. The modem must be compliant with all existing protocols, including the MIL-STD-188-220 and VMF. The Tactical Communications Interface Module (TCIM) currently used with the TPCS supports wide-area, as well as local area, network communications for a variety of host computers through an open standard SCSI interface. The dimensions of this TCIM is 8" W x 1.6" H x 16" D and weighs 3.8 lbs. Although an embedded modem capability is highly desired, the candidate modem should not exceed the size and the weight of the TCIM that is currently used with the TPCS. Communications equipment interface requirements are for wireline, multi-purpose, and 2 radio communication ports. The candidate modem should be windows NT compatible.
