EPA's National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL), Urban Watershed Management Branch (UWMB) of the Water Supply and Water Resources Division (WSWRD) is soliciting quotations to study Nutrient and Heavy Metal Dynamics of Various Wetland Plant Species. Work to be performed shall include laboratory experimental (i.e., bench-scale-vegetative-treatment-cell) study (with a review of associated published and unpublished information) on: (1) investigation of pollutant removal efficiencies in both the water column and the substratum for various wetland species; (2) examination of wetland-process dynamics for various detention times, water depths, and pollutant loadings; and (3) development of engineering design criteria, completion of cost-effective analysis, and suggestion of optimal performance, operation and maintenance guidance for the stormwater (SW)-wetland systems based on the data collected from this study, as well as available literature values. A project report shall be prepared to present all relevant information to include the effectiveness of each cell, guidance on design and operation, and cost breakdowns. A quality assurance project plan (QAPP) for conducting the bench-scale study to monitor and examine nutrient and heavy metal dynamics of various wetland plant species shall be developed, including the detailed procedures and methods for conducting laboratory testing and sampling, experimental QA/QC, and methods for data analyses and interpretation of final results. The period of performance will be 16 months from the date of award. EPA intends to issue a request for written quotations (RFQ). The RFQ-OH-98-00016 will be issued on or about November 3, 1997 with written quotations due on or about November 19, 1997.
