AVAILABILITY OF IMPACT STUDY ON T-SHIRTS -- AMENDED FEDERAL PRISON INDUSTRIES, INC. (FPI) -- This is an amendment to an earlier Special Notice originally published in the CBD on October 14 related to the availability of a study assessing the impact of a proposal for FPI to significantly expand its production of T-Shirts. The notice stated that the study was available to interested parties, and that requests should be made to: Manager, Planning, Research and Activation, Federal Prison Industries, Inc., 320 First Street, NW, Washington, DC 20534. The notice also stated that individuals wishing to submit comments in response to the study must do so within 45 days of publication of the original notice (October 14). The notice should have noted that comments on the study should be submitted in writing to FPI's Chief Operating Officer, and that comments should address the issue of what percentage, if any, of the government market for T-Shirts constitutes a reasonable share of the market for FPI. All comments related to definition of the product, determination of the size of the market, impact on the private sector, and study methodology should be submitted at this time, to allow for adequate consideration of these comments prior to FPI's dissemination of its final study and recommendations.
