COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 20,1997 PSA#1954D -- LOGISTICS COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT (LCM) INPUT 17. The Deputy Under
Secretary of Defense for Logistics has chartered a Logistics Community
Management (LCM) organization to facilitate execution of the Logistics
Business Systems Corporate Strategy by the Components (Military
Services and Defense Logistics Agency). In that role, LCM is supporting
the process of defining focused logistics for the warfighter in the
twenty-first century. An integral part of that effort is the definition
and development of the Global Combat Support System (GCSS) by the
Components. In helping to define the methodologies, processes, and
technologies that could contribute to GCSS, the LCM is seeking input
from the logistics community and industry partners on their views of
the emerging concepts, specific tasks which must be performed, and
current technologies (hardware and software) to populate the GCSS. All
firms, government organizations, and individuals interested in
providing comments or suggesting alternatives and solutions are
encouraged to review the LCM Charter and other pertinent LCM documents
by accessing the Logistics Community Manager World Wide Web Home Page
(http://www.lcm. wpafb.af.mil/). Comments can be submitted
electronically from the LCM Home Page to the LCM in the form of a brief
discussion or white paper not exceeding five pages in length. As part
of your response, provide the name and phone number of your point of
contact. Responses are requested within 30 days of this announcement.
This request for information is not a commercial solicitation, but an
attempt to seek the support and ideas of the Components, industry and
any other concerned individuals or organizations on how best to meet
the goals of LCM and initiate and populate the GCSS. The Government
will not pay for any information submitted or any costs associated with
providing this information. Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0362 19971020\SP-0011.MSC)
