Locus, Inc., has already developed a Loran-C monitoring receiver under a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contract with the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (VNTSC). This received has been developed from the beginning to meet the U.S. Coast Guard's (USCG) needs, and the USCG now requires to purchase 44 of the Locus Model LRS-III-D receivers with 4 option years of maintenance. Locus, Inc., is the only source that meets the USCG's needs for immediate production and without expending any additional funds on non recurring engineering.
