COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 21,1997 PSA#1955Social Security Administration, Office of Acquisition and Grants, 1710
Gwynn Oak Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21207-0696 59 -- ELECTRONIC DUAL CORD POWER SUPPLY (DCPS) DUE 110597 POC Gina
Dulaney Tel: 410-965-9508 The Social Security Administration (SSA) is
seeking vendors who can provide an electronic dual cord power supply
(DCPS) capable of supplying two individual/dissimilar electrical power
feeds to critical data processing equipment. The DCPS must comply with
all National Electric Codes (NEC) and conform to Underwriters
Laboratory Standards and any IEEE recommended practices in its function
and construction. The DCPS shall be field proven incorporating the
latest state of the art design that complies with the specifications.
The DCPS shall be capable of separate twenty (20) amp dual cord power
feeds that are internal to the unit. The DCPS must be capable of
providing total redundancy, utilizing two 20 amp individual/dissimilar
power feeds. Note: either feed may provide primary power, and on
failure of that feed, automatically transfer to the alternate feed. Any
transfer shall be totally transparent to the operation of the critical
data processing (DP) device and occur in less that 8 milliseconds. The
DCPS shall be capable of multiple transfers from feed to feed, back and
forth, without affecting the DP device or the DCPS's operation. The
DCPS shall have an audible and visual alarm, indicating the DCPS has
transferred to a secondary electrical path, as well as an indication
that there is electrical potential on both incoming power feeds. The
DCPS shall be easily adaptable to multiple functions such as equipment
racks and individual personal computers. Interested firms able to
provide the required technology are invited to submit information in
sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to provide the required
capabilities. Cross-reference to previously submitted material is
discouraged. No cost or pricing data is required or requested. This is
not a request for proposals (RFP) and the Government does not intend
to pay for information submitted. Respondents will not be notified of
the results of the evaluation of data received, but sources deemed
qualified will be solicited when requests for proposals are issued.
Responses to this notice should be submitted in duplicate within 15
days of the publication of this notice and should refer to "DCPS."
