The Library of Congress is seeking Requests For Quotations for design assistance in the planning design, fabrication and installation phases for an exhibition entitled, "Religion and the Founding of the American Republic" in the Northwest Curtain and Pavilion of the Thomas Jefferson Building. This space consists of two adjoining areas totaling approximately 6,000 square feet in size. It is highly decorated with mosaic tile floors, decorative painting, and murals. This exhibition will include approximately 200 two- and three- dimensional artifacts. The exhibit will explore the role of religion played in formulating the principles upon which the United States is founded. It opens on June 4, 1998 and closes on August 22, 1998. A slightly modified version of this exhibit will travel to four U.S. venues. The designer will be required to work with the Interpretive Programs Office (IPO) on this component. The exhibition will include a wide variety of materials: rare books, photographs, prints, paintings, drawings, manuscripts, and maps, charts, and plans. This exhibition must be designed using the Library's existing sets of cases and walls. This exhibition will use traditional display techniques and methods, which meet the environmental and conservation standards defined by the Library. To complete this work, the designer is required to work closely with Library staff, be able to meet at the Library on short notice, and abide by a very tight time frame.
