http://www.proc_div.nswc.navy.mil. E-MAIL: Questions and submission of
white papers via e-mail, slongbr@nswc.navy.mil. The Naval Surface
Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division Gun Weapons Systems Department is
seeking sources capable of performing a small quantity production of
the EX419 Multi-Function Fuze (MFF). The MFF is an electronic fuze for
the 5"/54 Gun Weapon System. It is planned that the MFF will replace
the current family of special purpose fuzes for the system. The
Engineering and Manufacturing Development of the MFF is currently being
completed by Motorola, Inc., Scottsdale, AZ. Motorola has announced
their intention to divest themselves of the MFF program, and it is
anticipated that this will occur prior to the initial small quantity
production, which is required to prove the producibility of the fuze
design. The fuze design provided by Motorola will be used as the
baseline for the MFF production, however, the production will be based
on a Performance Specification rather than a Build-To-Print
Specification. White Papers are being solicited from those companies
that feel they are capable of completing the small quantity production
of the MFF. The White Papers should be limited to no more than 10
pages, and should provide a description of the company's experience and
capabilities in electronic fuze manufacture, the availability of the
necessary production and testing equipment, the availability and
capabilities of support engineering experienced with electronic fuze
development/production, and the company's ability to interface with
Motorola, Inc., for purposes of consultation and engineering support
during the small quantity production program. White Papers and any
questions should be addressed to: Commander, Naval Surface Warfare
center, Dahlgren Division, 17320 Dahlgren Road, Attn: SD105 (G. R.
Vaughan), Dahlgren, VA 22448-5110, telephone (540) 653-7478. White
Papers should be submitted no later than 21 November 1997. This is not
a request for a proposal, a solicitation is not available at this
time, and the Government will not pay for the White Paper preparation.
