DEVICE-LICENSING OPPORTUNITY POC Martha H. Harrington Code 4BT100D,
(760) 927-1910 U.S. PATENT #4,957,242 "FLUID MIXING DEVICE HAVING A
CONICAL INLET AND A NON CIRCULAR OUTLET" The Naval Air Warfare Center
Weapons Division, China Lake, CA has developed and patented a mixing
device that causes efficient large-scale as well as small-scale
(molecular) mixing of two or more fluids in a small space. China Lake
researchers have developed a fluid-mixing device that has a conical
inlet and a non circular, elongated outlet. The intersection of the
conical and elongated sections produces axial rotation in a fluid
passing through the device, thus creating intense, three-dimensional
axial, and circumferential vortical structures. The jet of fluid
evolves into four secondary jets, generating several shear layers
inside the flow and augmenting mixing with a second fluid downstream of
the device. The result is highly efficient mixing of the two fluids
within a relatively small mixing space. This mixing is generally
uniform in its mixing characteristics and is equally efficient at the
small-scale or molecular level and the large-scale or bulk level. We
are now looking to expedite technology transfer of Naval Air Warfare
Center Weapons Division innovations. The objectives of Navy domestic
technology transfer are: (1) to disseminate technology originally
developed in support of military applications for potential alternative
uses in the public and private sectors; (2) to provide joint
cooperative development programs that address problems of critical
concern to the Navy and other agencies or organizations; and (3) to
leverage research and development opportunities of mutual interest to
the Navy and industrial organizations. In pursuit of these objectives
the Navy transfers technology to other Federal Government agencies,
state and local governments, small and large United States businesses,
non-profit organizations and such public service organizations as
schools, hospitals and foundations. For more information contact the
Technology Transfer Office, Code 4BT100D, at the Naval Air Warfare
Center Weapons Division, (CHINA LAKE), CA 93555-6100, phone number
(760) 927-1910. This announcement is for information and planning
purposes only and does not constitute an RFB or RFP, it is not a
commitment by the Government, and is not expected to lead to contracts
to be let by the Government. (0293) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0174 19971022\36-0001.SOL)
