Pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1(a), NASA Ames Research Center intends to negotiate with Lockheed Martin Skunk Works, a three month extention of the current contract NAS2-13500 for maintenance, operation and engineering support of the Government owned ER-2 aircraft. Lockheed is the sole source with access to their own prorietry, and US Air Force classified material, including performance data and design specifications for the ER-2 aircraft. A cost-plus-fixed-fee contract is contemplated. The period of the extention is 1 Nov 97 -- 31 Jan 98. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26.
