Curtis A. Courtney, Contracting Officer, (606) 253-8885. The Federal
Bureau of Prisons, Federal Medical Center, Lexington, KY, has a
requirement for Hemodialysis and Nephrologist services, to be performed
on site. Minnimum Requirements: Must be certified/accredited by CHAP
and/or JCAHO to provide Hemodialysis services. The required on-site
Registered Nurse, LPNs, and certified technicians must have a current
nursing license or dialysis technician certification, and have
completed speciality training in hemodialysis. The required
Nephrologist must have completed an AMA accredited School of Medicine,
completed an AMA approved intership/residency in Nephrology, and
possess a current state license to practice medicine without
restrictions. The Hemodialysis contractor must provide all supplies and
equipment neccesary for dialysis, to include a total of eight dialysis
machines and chairs, syringes, needles, catheters, tubing, IV
solictions, water tanks, and machine cleaning solutions. The
Nephrologist shall recommend treatment and management for patients on
dialysis. There will also be Nephrology Clinics for inmates referred by
an institution physician. Due to the nature of this requirement, all
individuals working within the institution are required to submit to
Security Clearances. This will be a competitive procurement with award
being made to the offeror determined to be in the best interest of the
Government, price and other factors considered. These other factors are
Past Performance, Experience, and Technical. Each dialysis session will
equal one (1) patient; each Nephrology session will equal one (1)
patient; each Neprhology clinic will equal four (4) hours. This will be
an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity, Firm-Fixed Price Contract.
The estimates are as follows for the Base Year and each Option Year:
Hemodialysis, 374 minimum sessions, 3,744 maximum sessions;
Nephrologist, 28 minimum sessions, 288 maximum sessions; and
Nephrologist Clinic, 12 minimum sessions, 24 maximum sessions. The Base
year of the contract shall run for twelve months from date of award,
with four (4) one year option periods for renewal. Solicitation
packages will be mailed approximately November 5, 1997, with an
approximate due date of December 5, 1997. All responsible sources may
