S -- PROVIDE LOCAL RAILROAD PASSENGER SHUTTLE TRANSPORTATION SERVICES AT THE NAVAL WEAPONS STATION EARLE IN LEONARDO, NJ POC Mr. Adam Ginther, Supervisory Contract Specialist (732) 866-2152. The OIC of NAVFAC Contracts for the Public Works Center Site Earle, located at the Naval Weapons Station Earle, Colts Neck, NJ is interested in the possibility of obtaining contractor furnished rail passenger transportation services for the Naval Weapons Station Earle pier facilities located in Leonardo, NJ. Services being sought require the contractor to provide all labor, rail equipment, maitenenace support of same, fuel, materials and supplies, and supervision necessary to operate a passenger shuttle service on a Government owned railroad system. The type of contractor equipment being sought to be utilized for the proposed service would be self-propelled diesel powered rail passenger equipment units similar to those operated on a local type commuter rail line. A single unit should be capable of carrying approximately 80 passengers. Two (2) such self propelled units may be required. Equipment will operate on 115# rail. Operation of track switches by Contractor personnel may be required. Maintenance of the the rail trackage and switches will be provided by the Government. Government furnished facilities for contractor equipment maintenance and fueling have yet to be determined and may not be available. Shuttle operations will take place between ship berths located at the end of a two plus mile long pier/trestle facility and points inland approximately one half mile from the shore line. Potential sources are advised that explosive ordnance is transported on the railroad system and extraordinary safety precautions for contractor operations shall apply. There are no specifications available for this proposed service being sought.
