Bentley, Contracting Officer, SMDC-CM-CN, (205)955-1187 The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command intends to enter into a sole-source follow-on effort to the existing contract with Maxwell Technologies for two options. Option 1 is for critical expert research, development and engineering (RD&E) efforts required to recalibrate magnitudes for use in event screening. Efforts include algorithm development, assembling a comprehensive sample of seismic data recorded from historic underground nuclear explosions, processing the seismic data and statistically comparing the nuclear explosion moments calculated with corresponding earthquake moments to develop event screening algorithms. Option 2 is for critical expert RD&E efforts required to formally integrate new magnitude estimation procedures into the operational IDC Software System.
