This is a special notice being issued by Westinghouse Savannah River Company (WSRC), management and operating contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy's Savannah River Site (SRS) near Aiken, South Carolina. The purpose of this notice is to determine public interest in the possible licensing of a technology called "Actinide Recovery Method." A rapid "Actinide Recovery Method" has been developed at the Savannah River Site that effectively removes actinides from Diphonix Resin. Diphonix Resin can be a powerful tool to preconcentrate actinides from large, difficult environmental samples. This technique enables rapid, effective recovery of actinides using Diphonix Resin to improve laboratory detection limits for actinides. Respondents will be provided with a technical brief and instructions for preparing and submitting a business plan, an integral element of the licensing process. Responses to this notice must be received by November 15,1997. Business plans must be submitted no later than December 15, 1997.
