Q -- LABORATORY TECHNICIAN SERVIVCES SOL RFQ 466-0005-8 DUE 112497 POC Kim Montgomery, Regional Contract Specialist, 606-253-8880 The Federal Bureau of Prisons intends to award a Non Personal services contract for a Laboratory Technician. Duties are to be performed at the the Federal Correctional Institution/Federal Prison Camp, located in Elkton, Ohio. The services are to provide Laboratory Technician services to the inmate population. The contractor will be responsible for the following; routine lab work, to include the following; Diagnostic (multi-chemo) Profile, CBC with Differential and Platelet Count, Syphilis Serology, Hepatitis Profile, Lithium Profile, Urine Culture, Urineanalysis (routine), Examination Tissue Sample, RPR, Glucose (accue and fasting), Hemoglobin, and other tests requested by the Health Services Administrator (HSA). Venipuncture, collecting and processing specimens to be sent to an outside laboratory. Performing urine analysis by dipstick and blood glucose tests by one touch glucometer. Must have ability to provide reports in a typewritten form using a computer (Wordperfect) verified by the contractor's signature and hand carried personally to the HSA. Contractor/individual must be a licensed/certified Laboratory Technician in the state of Ohio and must possess a current registration with the College of American Pathologists. Testing personnel must be at least a high school graduate or equivalent with "documented training" appropriate for the testing performed by the laboratory. Knowledge about specimen collection, proper instrument use, and the assessment of validity of patient test results is required. Contractor will be responsible for submitting written reports, evaluations, and operation plans for the Laboratory Department if requested by the HSA. This contract will include a base year not to exceed (12) twelve months from date of award. Estimated number of sessions for the base year is 520, (two (2) sessions per day, five(5) days a week, one (1) session equals three (3) hours in length). Solicitation packages will be mailed approximately November 3, 1997, with an approximate due date of November 24, 1997. It is anticipated this solicitation will result from a Firm Fixed Price, Requirements, type contract. The proposed contract is 100% set aside for small business concerns.
