NEW HORIZONS SYMPOSIUM -- "AF C2 SYSTEMS: NEW OPPORTUNITIES AND BUSINESS TRENDS" The Lexington-Concord Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) in participation with the USAF Electronic Systems Center (ESC) is pleased to announce a two-day symposium entitled "New Horizons" on 13-14 November 1997 at the Renaissance Bedford Hotel, Bedford, MA. The Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom AFB, MA is one of the Air Force Materiel Command's major acquisition centers. ESC specializes in the acquisition of electronic Command & Control (C2) Systems including: communications, reconnaissance, surveillance, intelligence, and information processing. The theme of this year's New Horizons Symposium is "AF C2 Systems: New Opportunities and Business Trends". The Air Force and Air Force Materiel Command's Electronic Systems Center are completing a significant restructuring and implementing new business processes which will dramatically alter the way C2 systems are planned and acquired. This symposium will explain the rationale behind the new organization and describe the companion business process changes that will affect how industry will be selected for C2 systems work of the future. Future potential business opportunities will be presented by the government organizations responsible for the execution of these requirements. The entire two day program will be unclassified and open to all attendees. The session will begin with a Welcome Address and an overview of the Electronic Systems Center's organization by Lt. Gen. Ronald Kadish, ESC Commander. Additional guest speakers include Maj. Gen. John Hawley, Air Force Air and Space C2 Agency, and Mr. John Gilligan, Air Force Program Executive Officer for Battle Management. The remainder of the symposium will consist of presentations from Electronic Systems Center organizations including Standard Systems Group, Materiel Systems Group, Cryptologic Systems Group, and the 38th Engineering Installation Wing (EIW). Rome Laboratories, Phillips Laboratory, Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, General Services Administration's Federal Supply Schedule and Federal Computer Acquisition Center have also been invited to present new business opportunities. Included in the program activities are luncheons on both days and a reception on the evening of the at the Renaissance Bedford Hotel. The registration fee of $375 for AFCEA members and $400 for non-members will be used to defray expenses incidental to the conduct of the symposium. They include printing and mailing costs, administrative expenses, refreshments, luncheons, reception and a contribution to the Chapter's General Fund. All lodging and transportation arrangements are the responsibility of the attendees. The Renaissance Bedford Hotel in Bedford, MA (617-275-5500) is the conference hotel and a block of rooms has been reserved. Telephone registrations will not be accepted. The cut-off date for registration is 31 October 1997. At that time, your registration will be confirmed and additional administrative details will be furnished. Cancellations must be made by 31 October 1997 to receive a refund. Please note that each registration fee covers one attendee only. Attendance is limited to 275 persons. Reservations will be taken on first-come, first-served basis. A large response is anticipated, so please register early.
