On or about 05 November 1997, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of ADAL DORMITORY, PHASE 5, BUILDING #1158, PETERSON AFB, CO. Bids will be opened on or about 10 December 1997. This solicitation is unrestricted and open to both large and small business participation. Site visits will be held every Wednesday during the bidding period at 1:00 p.m. Contractors interested in inspecting the site of the proposed work should make reservations by contacting Dave Zwieg, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Building 1319, Goodfellow Street, Peterson AFB, CO 80914-2740 phone (719) 556-4184, Fax (719) 556-7115. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) Remodel existing 3-story brick and CMU exterior cast-in-place concrete structure dormitory buildings (approx. 27,500 SF) to provide individual bedrooms w/ exterior balcony access and shared kitchen and toilet facilities for each two rooms. Work includes: demolition of existing interior partitions, mechanical and electrical systems as well as portions of exterior wall (existing structural frame remains intact); 600 CY concrete; 13,000 SF brick masonry; 5 tons structural steel; approx 1400 SF anodized aluminum windows; Removal of existing built-up roof and replacement w/ new 10,500 SF built-up roof; Exterior utilities; 35,000 SF area involving landscape planting, sodding and irrigation systems. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $2,500,000 and $5,000,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 365 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of Compact Disks be limitedto one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
